Throughline is a macOS story development app that works like a card game. Your story is made of three rows of cards: the World Row, the Character Row and the Throughline, where the story comes together as stacks of Beat Cards.

The cards are easy to stack, order and connect via drag and drop! But you can even import your screenplay directly as a .fountain; Throughline will automatically detect its locations, characters and scenes as beat cards.

Story beats have many options, inspired by screenplay formatting. Write as much or as little detail as you like!

For structuring your beat cards, you can bring in Structure Cards from a set of built-in decks, or import or create your own!

When you're ready, Throughline provides a robust selection of Export options. Editable documents, PDFs, even the fountain Screenplay format, which can be opened in any mainstream screenwriting software!

Or change the vibe entirely via the built-in Theme customizer!

Current Version: 1.2.2, macOS 10.13 (Intel) and 11.0 (Silicon) and above. A machine newer than 2020 is recommended; older is very unpredictable.
